The history of Cleveland Clothing Co.

Cleveland Clothing Co. was born in 2008 by two lifelong friends over some beers and burgers at their favorite spot: Whitey’s in Richfield, Ohio. It was then and there they decided to take a leap and start a business together. One friend was a graphic designer, and the other was an entrepreneur waiting for his next adventure. Their business gained traction through word of mouth and social media as word began to spread as they started “Spreading Cleveland Pride, One T-Shirt at A Time.” With a desire to escape the digital world, they put their business cards at local businesses and began to attend festivals like Waterloo Arts Festival and other events.

In 2009 they opened their first kiosk in SouthPark Mall in Strongsville, Ohio. The success of the kiosk led them to open a brick-and-mortar store. Native Cleveland gave the boys a “wear house” and storefront. This opened the door to allow them to not only sell their items in person but to support local Cleveland artists! They invited other artists and designers. Soon their store was filled with over 40 artists locally made items! In 2010 it was voted “Best Boutique – East Side” by Cleveland Magazine. They also have a thriving online store.

In 2012 they opened up their flagship store on the hottest street of Cleveland. CLE Clothing Co. brand is now an icon to locals and tourists. They are proud to say that over 98% of their products are made in the USA and printed in Cleveland. Although there is a small amount not produced domestically, that small amount is sourced by companies in Cleveland. They strive to support Cleveland through and through!
