Fairview Hospital has received Baby-Friendly Designation. This means they are one of the few hospitals in Northeast Ohio who provides a birthing center that offers an optimal level of care regarding infant feeding. This label comes from Baby-Friendly USA, who are the national authority for the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative. This global program is sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
If you’re searching for a natural birth experience, Fairview Hospital offers new suites that are light, bright and sleek with furnishing and hydrotherapy options (water labor). They have six of these newly-renovated suites for labor, birth and postpartum care plus three additional post-partum rooms.
At Fairview Hospital Birthing Center, they not only offer low intervention birth with natural pain alleviation tools, but they are equipped with a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) just in case things don’t go as planned. This means they offer the highest level of care for neonatal diagnosis, surgery and rehabilitation. There is also a NICU at Cleveland Clinic’s main campus.
The Perinatal Department is led by Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialists. You’re only able to see these specialists through a referral given by other physicians.
Fairview Hospital offers a robust list of childbirth and parenting education classes. These classes can help you prepare prior to babys arrival, during labor and delivery, post-partum life and for when you bring your new baby home. CenteringPregnancy provides prenatal care and prepares women for labor, delivery and parenting. They are conducted with 2 hour appointments over 10 sessions. These sessions provide mothers with education, one-on-one care and group time with 8-10 other expecting mothers in similar stages of their pregnancy.
